Dance like a Dervish

Today, instead of finishing my part for our group Filipino paper, I did some walking down memory lane. Woohooo. Not the looking back to my past thing but watching 2 movies that I've seen too many times and rekindling my Hanson fanaticism.

Do you have that feeling when you pass by the movie channels when you are channel surfing that there is or will be a good movie on anytime? I do, too often I think. Earlier this morning I stopped by Star Movies (haha parang lugar) and there, the opening sequence rolled and it was "John Tucker Must Die". Haha. It is not really my uber favorite movie but I like it for many small reasons. I especially like the scenes between the 'other Tucker' and the lead girl. :) I like it. Just cause. Maybe because I want a guy like that. AHAHAHAHAHA Dorky and awkward but confident and knows how to make a girl feel giddy inside at the same time. =)) Woooooooooeeeeeeee

:D And did I mention he's hott?

The other movie I watched again is "Meet Joe Black". I do not know what to write about it at the moment. I just love many things about it. If you want to know, and if you have watched the movie already, let's watch it together and I'll tell you everything I like about it and the insights I get throughout the movie. I especially like this because it makes me think about life. Hahhaha. Sometimes while I watch this movie, I feel like I have the answers to the existential questions that haunt me. But as soon as the movie ends, I forget about them. I don't know but I know, you know...hahaha...anyway, Joe Black puts it better:

So you understand the idea. Congratulations, (Bill). Now multiply that by infinity, take that to the depth of forever, and you still will barely have a glimpse of what I'm talking about.

If you have not seen the movie, I say you should.

With the rekindling my Hanson fanaticism part...I downloaded their latest album through torrent. OH NO! I really don't want to do it because I am meaning to buy the original one or I was hoping that someone will give it to me as a gift *ahem* but I couldn't wait anymore. I have the original copy of their previous album. I like having original CDs of my favorite artists because (1) I am helping them continue their music by paying them and patronizing their hard work (even though I still think that CDs are overly priced considering many things) and (2) When I have the original copies of artists' albums, I feel like I am experiencing their music as a whole. While I listen to the music, I read the labels, lyrics and dedications and I also look at the artwork for a long time. Hahaha That's me.

Well, I think I have to continue our Fil paper. Ngar

THE WALK

So. It. Has. Been. A. Loooong. Loooooong. While.

I haven't been able to tell stories about my life because finally I have a life! Haha joke.

College is eating up my time and my online time is mostly just for homeworks, research, blockmates and orgs so I haven't been able to do my regular rounds of blog-hopping and commenting. Sorry.

Today was really good. I have been down lately and my mother reminded me of the "DESIDERATA". Oh how I have taken it for granted and think of it as such an overrated piece of literature. It was even made into a song that I frequently hear playing on my father's radio station (RJ 100.3). I memorized a part of it because of that song. My mom made me read it again (it is hanged against our wall) and I actually got goosebumps. I was amazed at how it answered all my questions and doubts about life. And also thanks to my mom for making me realize it. Yeah, I know, I'm getting sentimental. :'(.

Here, read it. It might shed some light on you, whoever you are reading this.

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons.Speak your truth quietly and clearly;and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant;they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter;for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble;it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.Exercise caution in your business affairs;for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;many persons strive for high ideals;and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.Especially, do not feign affection.Neither be cynical about love;for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.Beyond a wholesome discipline,be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe,no less than the trees and the stars;you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you,no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,whatever you conceive Him to be,and whatever your labors and aspirations,in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,it is still a beautiful world.Be cheerful.Strive to be happy.

Max Ehrmann, Desiderata, Copyright 1952.

Okay, on to a different topic. So the Hanson (yes, the mmmmmbop) has a new album and they need people to now about it, so they asked fans, yep, like me to advertise for them through a contest. So here it is. Please click on the banner and know more about their new album. I'm telling you people they're great musicians and the long hair and the squeaky voices are so long gone (as you probably might've seen in their song "Penny and Me"). They're all new and all good--and now with an advocacy towards humanitarian issues which is greeaat <3

Hanson wants to write a song just for me!

Actually, to help me win, all you have to do is click it (please, whoever you are). Knowing more about the band is up to you, but I highly recommend it. =D

[edit:]
COOL! Hanson's "The Walk" ranked number 4 (as of August 5) in the billboards top indie albums and number 1 (number ONE!!) in the top internet albums chart! And also in their first week which is this week their album ranked 56 in the Billboards 200. GREAT! Yey! The advertising is paying off! Hope they'd continue climbing the charts. =D
